Why efficiency matters here

Clean all the leaves! rewards uptime. Every minute you walk with a full bag, swing a weak tool, or bounce between half-finished zones is a minute your friends’ return timer does not care about. This guide assumes you already know the basic loop from Getting Started — collect, sell, buy tools, upgrade bag, unlock map parts — and want higher leaves-per-minute and cleaner percent gains.

Confirmed systems you will abuse on purpose: leaf collecting, selling for cash, bag upgrades, buy/equip tools, upgrades shop, walk/sprint movement, garage button puzzle, and vents access as part of longer routes.

Upgrade priority that actually scales

1. Tool power first when swings feel weak

If you spend more time swinging than walking between piles, buy the next tool tier and equip it immediately. Tool upgrades multiply every tile you already stand on. A pretty cosmetic without power is not an efficiency upgrade.

2. Bag capacity when travel time hurts

Once tools feel decent, bag upgrades usually win. Bigger bags mean:

  • Fewer trips to the sell point
  • Longer uninterrupted clears in new unlocks
  • Better co-op lane ownership because you are not constantly vanishing to sell

Rule of thumb: if you hit full mid-zone more than twice per clear, buy bag before another luxury purchase.

3. Unlock spends when the open map is “done enough”

Do not dump every coin into a door while your bag is tiny. Clear and farm the accessible yard until tool + bag are respectable, then rotate cash into progression. Details for garage button, vents, and gated parts sit in Area Unlocks.

Sell timing: the hidden DPS stat

Selling is not a break; it is a DPS reset.

  • Sell on full as the default. Overflow you cannot pick up is wasted spawn time.
  • Sell a bit early if the sell point is on your way to an unlock interaction (garage button run, vent entry) so you arrive empty and leave carrying.
  • Do not sell every tiny pickup if the walk is long — that is death by a thousand trips. Cluster pickups until the bag is worth the sprint.

In co-op, stagger sells so someone always remains on leaves. See Co-op Tips for role splitting.

Movement: walk for density, sprint for distance

Walk/sprint style movement is confirmed. Use it deliberately:

  • Walk through thick leaf carpets so your tool contact stays continuous.
  • Sprint between zones, to sell, to the upgrades shop, and to puzzle buttons.
  • Plan a loop, not a scribble: start near sell, sweep outward, return along a dirty edge, sell, rebuy upgrades if needed, repeat.

Avoid zigzagging across clean ground. If a strip is done, leave it alone until a later 100% sweep for Secret Ending.

Tool habits that save minutes

  • Re-check that the best tool is equipped after every shop visit.
  • Do not hoard cash “for later” while swinging the starter — later is slower if today is weak.
  • After an unlock opens a denser biome of leaves, reassess tool tier again; new density can make the previous “good enough” tool feel slow overnight.

Garage button tips (efficiency angle)

The garage button puzzle is a confirmed progression gate. From a speed perspective:

  • Approach with empty or near-empty bag if the puzzle area is far from sell — you want capacity for the room you are about to open.
  • Call the button location in co-op so five people are not searching while one already knows.
  • After success, immediately sweep the newly opened space before returning to old yard muscle memory. New rooms are where time-efficient percent lives.
  • Combine garage runs with vent scouting when both are on the same side of the map so you pay the travel cost once.

Exact button sequences can vary with patches; focus on the habit: unlock → immediate clear → sell → upgrade, not unlock → wander.

Vents and side routes

Vents are confirmed access tools for map parts. Treat them like express lanes:

  • Learn which vent mouths connect to dirty pockets versus dead ends.
  • Sprint to vent entries; walk while cleaning the pocket on the other side.
  • In a full 12-player server, assign one “vent runner” so the whole lobby is not clogging the same tunnel.

More unlock structure lives on Area Unlocks.

Route templates (adapt, do not memorize fake names)

We are not inventing unconfirmed Steam-style area titles. Use functional labels:

  1. Starter carpet loop — dense open leaves near sell
  2. Edge strip loop — outer borders that players skip
  3. Garage unlock loop — button → new interior → sell
  4. Vent pocket loop — vent in → clear → vent out → sell
  5. Final percent loop — revisit edges and interiors for Secret Ending

Rotate 1–2 for cash, insert 3–4 when upgrades allow, reserve 5 for endgame.

Co-op multipliers

Efficiency multiplies with communication:

  • Split the map into lanes so two tools are not fighting one pile
  • One player can camp sell timing callouts (“selling now”) while others stay in lane
  • Unlock specialist runs garage/vents while collectors keep cash flowing

Read Co-op Tips before a stacked lobby night.

What not to waste time on

  • Code hopping — Codes currently has no verified active codes; do not pause cleaning for lookalike game lists
  • Random shop buys that neither raise clear speed nor bag size
  • Re-cleaning sparkling-clean center tiles while borders stay buried
  • Ignoring an opened garage or vent pocket “until later” (later means leftover percent)

Session drill (30 focused minutes)

  1. Sell anything already in the bag
  2. Buy the next tool or bag upgrade — whichever matches your bottleneck
  3. Run one starter carpet loop at walk speed in density
  4. Sprint sell; immediately note cash toward the next upgrade
  5. Spend one attempt on garage button or vents if available
  6. Clear the newly opened pocket before anything else
  7. Repeat until the timer ends; finish on a sell so cash is banked

Run this drill twice and your “slow” character usually feels like a different account.

FAQ

Frequently Asked Questions

Quick answers about Clean all the leaves and this wiki.

Should I always upgrade the tool before the bag?

Upgrade the tool when swings feel slow; upgrade the bag when you are constantly full mid-zone. Alternate based on that bottleneck.

When should I sell?

Default to selling when the bag is full. Sell slightly early if you are already pathing toward the sell point or an unlock interaction.

How do I use sprint efficiently?

Sprint between zones, to sell, and to puzzles. Walk through dense leaf carpets so you do not skip strips.

Does the garage button help cleaning speed?

Yes — opening new map parts adds fresh leaf volume. Unlock, then clear immediately so the travel cost pays off.

Is co-op faster than solo?

It can be, if you split lanes and unlock duties. Without callouts, players overlap and waste time — see Co-op Tips.
