Area Unlocks

Why unlocks matter more than raw swinging

You can upgrade tools and bags all day, but Clean all the leaves! still hides leaf volume behind map progression. Friends left you to clean every leaf — including the ones behind a garage door, down a vent path, or past a zone that only opens after you clear and interact correctly.

This guide covers confirmed progression pieces from community tools and player reports: keys / gated access, clearing zones, the garage door button puzzle, and vents. We deliberately do not invent Leaf it Alone Steam area names or other unconfirmed labels. If the live game uses a diegetic sign, trust the in-world name; here we use functional descriptions.

Pair this page with Getting Started for the cash loop and Clean Faster for when to spend on unlocks versus bag/tool.

Progression mindset

Think of the map as layers:

  1. Open yard — available at session start
  2. Condition gates — spaces that open after clearing nearby work or finding a key-like interaction
  3. Puzzle gates — notably the garage button puzzle
  4. Traversal gates — vents that change how you path between pockets

Your job is to notice when a layer is teasing you, solve it on purpose, then immediately clean what you opened. Unlocking without sweeping is how 96% forever happens — see Secret Ending.

Keys and gated interactions

“Keys” here means progression items or interactions that unlock a door, gate, or pathway — not necessarily a literal brass key icon in every build. When you find something that looks collectible or pressable near a blocked route:

  • Pick it up / activate it before sprinting away
  • Check nearby doors for a state change
  • Sell only after you confirm whether the gate opened; do not lose the mental marker mid-sell trip
  • In co-op, call “key-like item on me” so the lobby does not duplicate the search

If nothing opens, note the location and return after a clear or shop visit — some gates soft-require progress elsewhere.

Clearing zones as unlock conditions

Some map parts respond to cleaning the approach. Practical habits:

  • Fully clear the visible carpet leading up to a suspicious door before assuming the door is broken
  • Re-check percent and door state after a dedicated clear
  • Avoid leaving stripes; half-cleared approaches are easy to misread as “still locked forever”
  • Use walk mode in dense approach piles so you do not fake-complete a zone visually while leaves remain

Zone clearing also feeds the economy: those leaves sell for the cash you need at the upgrades shop before harder unlocks.

Garage door button puzzle

The garage button puzzle is a confirmed system. Treat it as a first-class objective once your starter loop is stable.

Approach

  1. Arrive with awareness of bag capacity — empty space is ideal if the garage opens into a leafy interior
  2. Locate the button(s) associated with the garage door
  3. Interact in the order the environment implies (watch for multiple buttons, indicators, or teammate-required presses in co-op)
  4. Confirm the door actually opened before leaving the area
  5. Enter and clear methodically — walls, corners, and underfoot piles

Efficiency tips

  • Combine the garage run with a planned sell so you are not full before the interior starts
  • In a 12-player lobby, appoint one puzzle lead; five people mashing randomly wastes time — see Co-op Tips
  • After success, mark the garage as a permanent stop on your route template from Clean Faster

If the garage will not open

  • Confirm you are in Clean all the leaves! (wrong leaf games have different props)
  • Rejoin once if buttons failed to load
  • Check whether another player already opened it and you are staring at a clean-looking but still leaf-speckled interior
  • Make sure prerequisite clearing or key-like steps nearby are done

We will not invent a fake button code sequence that might patch out — learn the live layout, then document your group’s notes privately if needed.

Vents access

Vents are confirmed traversal tools. They exist to move you into pockets that normal walking does not reach cleanly.

How to use them well

  • Spot vent entries while doing edge sweeps; they often sit where players ignore “background” geometry
  • Sprint to the vent, enter, then walk while cleaning the destination pocket
  • Trace whether the vent is one-way or a connector; learn exits so you do not soft-trap yourself with a full bag
  • After first discovery, add the vent pocket to your 100% checklist

Co-op vent etiquette

  • Call “vent clear in progress” so the whole server does not body-block the tunnel
  • One runner can ferry knowledge: “vent leads to dirty pocket, still open”
  • Do not AFK in a vent mouth — you are a cork in the bottle

Building an unlock order that works

A reliable session order:

  1. Stabilize tool + bag on the open yard (Getting Started)
  2. Clear approaches to any teasing gates
  3. Solve garage button when reachable
  4. Map vents and clear their pockets
  5. Spend remaining cash on upgrades that make the new spaces fast (Clean Faster)
  6. Fold every opened space into the Secret Ending 100% pass

Skip steps 3–4 and you will wonder why percent caps out.

What we are not claiming

  • Official multi-world names copied from other leaf games
  • Exact Steam map titles from Leaf it Alone
  • Guaranteed button codes that are not verified in this Roblox build
  • That promo codes unlock map parts — they do not; and none are verified active on Codes

Troubleshooting stuck progression

  • Door still closed: finish nearby clears, search for button/key interactions, ask teammates if it already opened
  • Opened but empty feeling: you are missing edge leaves or a second connected vent pocket
  • Cannot find vents: slow edge walk after a sell when you are not tunnel-visioned on cash
  • Co-op confusion: assign a single unlock specialist for ten minutes

Open the route, then clean it. That is the whole unlock philosophy.

FAQ

Frequently Asked Questions

Quick answers about Clean all the leaves and this wiki.

What unlock systems are confirmed?

Community-confirmed pieces include keys/gated access patterns, clearing zones, the garage door button puzzle, and vents, plus the usual collect/sell/upgrade loop.

Do I need to solve the garage puzzle for 100%?

You need every leaf. If leaves exist behind the garage route, the puzzle is effectively required for the secret ending path.

How do vents help?

Vents are traversal shortcuts into pockets that normal walking may not reach cleanly. Enter, clear, and add them to your 100% checklist.

Why won’t you list exact area names?

This wiki avoids inventing unconfirmed names from other leaf games. Use in-world signs and functional labels like garage and vents.

Should I unlock before upgrading tools?

Get a basic tool and bag online first, then spend on unlocks so new spaces are actually clearable at a decent speed.
